Reinbert Evers este unul dintre cei mai influenți chitariști contemporani.

S-a născut la Dortmund, Germania, și și-a început studiile de chitară cu Maritta Kersting în Duesseldorf, înainte de a începe să lucreze cu Karl Scheit în Viena. A terminat ambele academii, cu cele mai înalte onoruri.

A fost numit profesor de chitară la Musikhochschule Muenster în 1976,  iar în 1980 a primit premiul Young Artists Award din partea orasului Dortmund.

Capacitatea de întelegere profundă a lui Evers, atât în ceea ce privește muzica clasică cât și pe cea contemporană, l-a facut unul dintre cei mai căutați performeri în cadrul festivalurilor și scenelor de renume din Germania și din lume.

Discografia lui impresionantă cuprinde lucrări de la compozitori începand cu Bach (lucrări complete pentru lăută),  trece prin epoca marilor maeștri ai secolului 19, precum Sor și Giuliani, și ajunge la cei contemporani, precum de Falla, Henze, Britten, Trojahn etc. Artist versatil, Reinbert Evers este în egală măsură căutat ca solist, cât și în calitate de muzician în ansambluri de cameră.

A interpretat în premieră mai mult de 150 de compoziții noi, piese solo, muzică de cameră și concerte pentru chitară și orchestră. Premiera cu “Royal Winter Music II” de Hans Werner Henze în 1980, la Bruxelles, i-a adus recunoașterea internațională.

Compozitori precum Dieter Schnebel, Manfred Trojahn, Detlev Glanert, Luca Lombardi, Jens Peter Ostendorf, Sidney Corbett, Anatol Vieru, Bojidar Dimov, Bojidar Spassov, Osvaldas Balakauskas, Anatolijus Senderovas, Onute Narbutaite, Peteris Vasks, Guo Wenjing, Shih, Jo Kondo, Xiaoyong Chen i-au dedicat numeroase piese.

La cererea Institutului Goethe a facut un turneu în Italia, Franța, Scandinavia, Iugoslavia, Grecia, Israel, Africa de Est și Africa de Vest, USA, Rusia. Din 1990 a efectuat turnee în Europa de Est (Rusia, Latvia, Lituania, România, Ucraina, Bulgaria, Polonia, Ungaria) și în Asia (Coreea, Japonia, China, Mongolia).

Masterclassurile internaționale l-au pozitionat pe Evers în rândul celor mai stimulativi profesori de chitară ai tuturor timpurilor. Între 1998 și 2000 a fost titular al cursului de chitară la  “Ferienkurse” / Internationales Musik-Institut Darmstadt.

Între 2000 și 2010, Reinbert Evers a fost curator de program la “KlangZeitFestival” Muenster, dar și director artistic al “St. Christopher Summer-Guitar Festival” din Vilnius, începând cu anul 2004.

A fost consultant de program pentru festivalul “Scene: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania in new 2006” și curator pentru “International Guitar Festivals Muenster” (2006-2010), dar și pentru   “Muensterland-Festivals pART” (2005-2009).

Reinbert Evers este alături de Academia ICon Arts din 2011.

Reinbert Evers was born in Dortmund, Germany, and commenced his guitar studies with Maritta Kersting in Duesseldorf, before going on to work with Karl Scheit in Vienna. He finished at both academies with the degree Konzertexamen “with excellence”. He was appointed Professor of Guitar at the Musikhochschule Muenster in 1976, and in 1980 he received the Young Artists Award from the City of Dortmund.

Evers profound understanding of both classical and contemporary music has made him a much sought-after performer at major venues and festivals both in Germany and abroad. He has broadcast widely and his impressive discography comprises works by composers ranging from Bach (complete works for lute) through 19th century masters such as Sor and Giuliani to those of our time, de Falla, Henze, Britten, Trojahn etc. This versatile artist is also much in demand as a chamber musician.

Evers special interest on new music made him to one of the most influential guitarist of our time. He premiered more than 150 new compositions, solo pieces, chamber music and concerts for guitar and orchestra. The first performance of “Royal Winter music II” by Hans Werner Henze 1980 in Bruxelles made his name internationally known. Composers like Dieter Schnebel, Manfred Trojahn, Detlev Glanert, Luca Lombardi, Jens Peter Ostendorf, Sidney Corbett, Anatol Vieru, Bojidar Dimov, Bojidar Spassov , Osvaldas Balakauskas, Anatolijus Senderovas, Onute Narbutaite, Peteris Vasks, Guo Wenjing, Shih, Jo Kondo, Xiaoyong Chen among others have written pieces for him.

At the request of the Goethe Institute he toured Italy, France, Scandinavia, Yugoslavia, Greece, Israel, East- and Westafrica, USA and Russia. Since 1990 he has toured several times in the East of Europe (Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Rumania, Ukraina, Bulgaria, Poland, and Hungary) and Asia (Korea and Japan, China, Mongolia). International Masterclasses have made him well known as one of the most stimulating guitar teacher of our times. 1998 and 2000 he was docent for guitar at the “Ferienkurse” / Internationales Musik-Institut Darmstadt.

In addition to producing solo CDs featuring both contemporary and classical repertoire, he has recently been increasingly involved in chamber music, has recorded “El Cimarron” by Hans Werner Henze, two CDs with new music for guitarduo and a duo recording with the Canadian flutist Robert Aitken. Recordings with chamber music for guitar from the Baltics followed. He recorded with the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius under the direction of maestro Donatas Katkus new concertos for guitar and chamber orchestra. At the moment he is continuing to record all classical guitar concertos from the early 19th century. Two CDs are published now.

In May 2006 Evers did the world premiere of 3 new concerts of the composers Anatolijus Senderovas, Eriks Esenvalds and Tonu Korvits during the first international guitar-festival Muenster. This concertos plus pieces by Arvo Pärt and Osvaldas Balakauskas where published at a CD, titled “Mirage” in 2007.

In the last years he gave a lot of attention to the new music of Eastern Asia and the Baltic States.

Reinbert Evers works regularly together with the flutist Robert Aitken, the percussionist Mircea Ardeleanu, the cellist Matias de Oliveira Pinto, harpsichord player Gregor Hollmann and the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra Vilnius. From 1995 until end of 2008 he worked as Dean of the Musikhochschule Muenster, formally department Muenster of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. He was founder and artistic director of the “Europäisches Musikfest Münsterland” (1999 – 2001). As chairman of the ‘Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Münster’ he gives a lot of energy and force to projects and concerts.

Reinbert Evers worked as programme-curator of the “KlangZeitFestival” Muenster 2000 – 2010, as artistic director of the “St. Christopher Summer-Guitar Festival” in Vilnius since 2004. He was programme-adviser for the festival “scene: estonia, latvia, lithuania in nrw 2006” and curator for the “International Guitar Festivals Muenster 2006-2010” and the “Muensterland-Festivals pART” 2005-2009.
