Numit de către revista britanică The Strad ca ‟un virtuoz incurabil cu suflet şi tehnică fabuloase”, violonistul Remus Azoiţei a debutat la 8 ani cu orchestra simfonică din oraşul său natal, Galaţi. După ce în 1995 a absolvit Conservatorul din Bucureşti la clasa lui Daniel Podlovski, Remus Azoiţei obţine o bursă de studii la renumita Juilliard School din New York, unde are şansa să studieze cu Dorothy Delay şi Itzhak Perlman, la finalul pregătirii sale obţinând titlul de Master of Music. De-a lungul timpului el a beneficiat si de indrumarea violonistului Bujor Prelipcean.
Remus Azoiţei a concertat în săli prestigioase cum ar fi Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Cortot Paris, Konzerthaus Berlin, St-Martin-in-the-Fields şi Wigmore Hall în Londra, Teatro La Fenice Veneţia, Auditorio Nacional Madrid sau Konzerthaus Viena, apărând de asemeni în festivalurile muzicale de la Tokyo, Cambridge, Londra, Berlin, Heidelberg şi Santander, între altele. A colaborat cu artisti renumiţi printre care se numără Lawrence Foster, David Geringas, Gérard Caussé, Michael Sanderling sau Adrian Brendel, fiind de asemeni solist al unor ansambluri de prestigiu precum Berlin Kammer Orchestre, Orchestre Nationale de Belgique, Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of London sau Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France. În 2005, el a interpretat Dublul concert de Bach alături de violonistul Nigel Kennedy în cadrul Festivalului Internaţional George Enescu, concert preluat de către 19 posturi de radio si televiziune din Europa, incluzând BBC, Arte şi Mezzo. Cu ocazia debutului său la celebra Wigmore Hall din Londra, ziarul Sunday Express scria că “a cântat un concert de neuitat în faţa unei săli Wigmore arhipline şi a ridicat publicul în picioare. Iată un muzician excepţional.”
Remus Azoitei a înregistrat în premieră mondială integrala lucrărilor pentru vioară şi pian de George Enescu alături de pianistul Eduard Stan, pentru casa de discuri Hanssler din Germania. Comentând pe marginea acestei realizari, revista britanică The Strad spune ca “Azoiţei are toate atuurile: sensibilitate marcantă, dulceaţă a sunetului (dar nu dulceag) şi o paletă coloristică şi dinamică imensă”, pe când publicaţia Gramophone descrie “Stilul rafinat si vibrant al lui Remus Azoiţei… un interpret distinct care combină temperament, măiestrie şi eleganţă a execuţiei într-un mod foarte special”. In 2009 el a sustinut un turneu de 15 concerte in capitale ale Europei, Washington DC şi NewYork alături de pianistul Eduard Stan. După debutul său în capitala americană, ziarul Washington Post notează: “Azoiţei cântă cu sensibilitate melodică fluentă şi tehnică strălucitoare.” In 2014 Remus a realizat un alt CD pentru Chandos, alaturi de grupul Schubert Ensemble, disc elogiat indelung in presa internationala.
În 2001, Remus Azoiţei a fost numit profesor de vioară al Academiei Regale de Muzică din Londra, la acel moment fiind de asemeni cel mai tânăr profesor de vioară din întreaga istorie de 200 ani a Academiei. În 2007, el a pus bazele Societăţii Enescu din Londra, fiind unul din membrii fondatori precum şi directorul său artistic, poziţie pe care o ocupă în continuare. În 2005, el a fost decorat de către Presedintele României cu titlul de Ofiţer al Ordinului Meritul Cultural, iar in mai 2013 Regele Romaniei Mihai l-a numit ofiter al ordinului „Coroana Romaniei”. In 2016 el a fost ales castigatorul Concursului National “Oamenii Timpului”, care celebreaza anual personalitati ale vietii romanesti din tara cat si din diaspora; el este de asemeni castigatorul Marelui Premiu “Constantin Brancoveanu” pe domeniul Arte in 2017.
In 2018 el a pus bazele Fundatiei “Azoitei” pentru sustinerea muzicienilor romani din tara si de peste hotare.

Remus Azoitei – violin
Described in The Strad as “an uninhibited virtuoso, with soul and fabulous technique”, the Romanian-born violinist Remus Azoitei has been a featured soloist of prestigious European ensembles including the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Belgique and Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of London. He has performed concertos under conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Dimitri Kitaenko, Michael Sanderling, and Gabriel Chmura.
His recent engagements have taken him to venues around the world including Carnegie Hall / Weill Recital Hall and Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Cortot Paris, Konzerthaus Berlin, St-Martin-in-the-Fields and Wigmore Hall in London, Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Konzerthaus Vienna, Palais de Beaux Arts and Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, and National Concert Hall in Dublin. “Azoitei played with a fluid melodic sensibility and sparkling technique” wrote The Washington Post, commenting on his Washington DC debut at the Terrace Theatre of Kennedy Center, in December 2009. After his London Wigmore Hall debut in 2004, The Sunday Express wrote that “he delivered a memorable programme in front of a packed Wigmore Hall, and had the crowd cheering. He is one fine musician.”
A regular guest of the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Bourglinster Festival in Luxemburg and Berlin International Music Festival in Berlin, Remus Azoitei has worked with artists such as cellists David Geringas and Adrian Brendel, violist Gerard Caussé, and pianists Alexandra Dariescu and Konstantin Lifshitz. After his London Wigmore Hall debut in 2004, the Sunday Express wrote that “he delivered a memorable programme in front of a packed Wigmore Hall, and had the crowd cheering. He is one fine musician.” In 2005, he performed Bach’s Double concerto with Nigel Kennedy, a concert broadcast on 19 Radio and TV stations across Europe and North America, including Arte and Mezzo. He has recorded for the Electrecord, Radio Bremen, Hänssler Classic, and Chandos labels. He has received “The Cultural Order”, a decoration offered to him for his achievements by the Romanian President; has has also received the title of “Officer of the Romanian Crown” from King Michael of Romania.
Over the years, Remus Azoitei has developed a successful artistic partnership with pianist Eduard Stan. Apart from a very large number of performances they have given as a duo, the two artists recorded together the first ever entire repertoire for violin and piano by George Enescu. Launched by Hänssler Classics on 2 CDs in 2007, this collection immediately attracted international acclaim, such as: “Azoitei has all the requirements: marked sensitivity, a sweetness of tone (but not over-succulence) and an impressive emotional and dynamic range…” – The Strad, or “…the refined but vibrant performing style of Remus Azoitei… a distinctive player who combines temperament, mastery of idiom and executive elegance in a very special way” – The Gramophone.
Remus Azoitei studied with Dorothy DeLay, Masao Kawasaki and Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School in New York, where he was awarded a scholarship to study for his Master’s Degree. He then travelled to London to work with Maurice Hasson at the Royal Academy of Music. His past teachers also included Daniel Podlovsky at the Bucharest Conservatoire as well as Bujor Prelipcean, leader of the Voces string quartet.
In 2001, Remus Azoitei was appointed violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, at the time becoming the youngest ever violin professor in the history of this institution. He is the Artistic Director of the Enescu Society in London, also being one of its founding members.
