ICon Arts Transilvania Festival

The XXth Edition

The ICon Arts phenomenon and the magic of the Saxon settlements in Transylvania

We invite you to let yourselves wonder through exquisite Transylvanian villages and discover old stories and well-kept traditions, together with the most recent artistic creations of our invited guests from around the world.

As we did in 2020 and 2021, we will continue to act responsibly, considering the delicate context of COVID -19 and taking the necessary measures that will allow us to meet and enjoy arts together safely.

After more than 10 editions organized around the city of Sibiu, now we are celebrating other 10 editions focused beyond urban spaces, by organizing the ICon Arts events (masterclasses, concerts, happenings) in the villages and small settlements from South Transylvania: Richiș, Biertan, Mălâncrav, Alma Vii, Viscri, Dealu Frumos and more.

We are already working on the program for 2021 and we will update it soon. You will find in it the opportunity to listen new music works for the first time, to visit open-air museums and each day of the Festival will bring unique cultural experiences, from concerts to local gastronomy experiences. Be sure to make your reservation on time at: reservations@iconarts.ro

One of the most long-lasting events dedicated to contemporary arts in Romania, ICon Arts has reached its XIXth edition in 2021. Over 150 artists from around the world meet here every year for a one-of-a-kind creation lab in the beautiful Transylvanian landscape guarded by secular forests and impressive fortifications.

Musicians, choreographers, dancers, actors, photographers, multimedia artists share their professional experience in search for new ways of artistic expression, weather they come here to teach, learn, perform or all of the above.

Many of the ICon Arts students along the years have gained international reputation. After many editions, some of them return in our community as ICon Arts teachers, mentoring the new generations.

„ICon Arts Transilvania is one of the few summer festivals which could be safely organized, because most of its events and concerts traditionally take place outdoors, making them suitable even for the strict measures we had to take during the pandemic times.

Our challenge is to enhance the multicultural and multisensory experience for our artists and audience and to make the most out of this. . We have accomplished this challenge together with our local partners, Mihai Eminescu Trust, Experience Transylvania, Colinele Transilvaniei, with whom we have coordinated perfectly for responsibly delivering unique and unforgettable events.”
